About this little corner of the sky
An astrophotography project from home, built one clear night at a time.
Hi, I’m Josh.
I photograph the deep sky from my backyard.
I got into astrophotography because I wanted to see what was hiding in the night sky beyond what the eye can catch. The first time a faint nebula came through on a screen, the distance felt a little less abstract. Since then, I’ve been learning how to find targets, collect the light, and process it into an image I’m happy to share.
Most of the work here comes from my Seestar S30 Pro. I’m especially drawn to emission nebulae, dark dust, and the layered structures that emerge after hours of collecting light. I’m still learning processing, and that ongoing experimentation is part of the story.
I image under Bortle 4/5 skies from my backyard in Arkansas. It’s useful context for the conditions behind each capture and the faint details I work to bring out.
This site is a home for the finished photographs as well as the notes behind them: what gear I used, how a session went, and what I might try differently next time. I hope you find something here that makes you want to step outside and look up.
